On Thursday 15 August , NUST received an emailed response from Alan Campbell, Labour MP for Tynemouth. He wrote:
Dear Mr Karter
Thank you for your letter on behalf of the Newcastle United Supporters Trust. I believe that football clubs needs to respect the loyalty of their fans and that includes playing their matches at home.
As you will know, the Football Supporters Association unanimously passed a motion at its annual general meeting recently opposing domestic fixtures being played overseas.
Labour’s manifesto committed to making Britain the best place in the world to be a football fan and we have pledged to reform football governance to protect football clubs across our communities and to give fans a greater say in the way they are run.
I will follow this matter closely and I thank you and your fellow supporters for taking the time to contact me.
Best wishes
Alan Campbell MP

On Monday 9 September 2024, NUST received an emailed response from Mark Ferguson, MP for Gateshead Central and Whickham. He wrote:
Mark is fundamentally opposed to playing any PL games outside of the normal schedule and is of the view that this would almost never be in the best interests of supporters or the communities in which the clubs sit.
In Parliament, Mark has joined the APPG set up by Ian Mearns during his time in Parliament which raises issues like this, on behalf of supporters, and is supported itself by the FSA.
Mark has already met with the FSA to discuss this and a range of other issues including the Football Governance Bill and is due to meet again in the coming weeks.
