Introducing Your New NUST Board Members - November 2025

Newcastle United Supporters Trust Board - 2025 Election Result

Following the closing date for nominations the Election Management Group (EMG) reviewed all applications. The EMG agreed that it had received four valid nominations prior to the closing date. We can also confirm that no nominations were classed as invalid.

The four valid nominations were:

Steve Henderson
Justin Robert
David Stonehouse
Tom Rutherford

Although there were only three available seats, the NUST board met to discuss the co-option of a fourth candidate to make use of all the skills and resources offered. The Board approved this unanimously and as such no election is required. All four candidates will be informed of their appointment to the Supporters Trust Board.

All candidates will be formally ratified at the Annual General Meeting in early 2026 (date TBC).

Introducing your new Board members:

Steve Henderson:

Steve has been attending matches since the mid 80s. Just missing out on seeing Keegan as a player, his first match was Chris Waddle's final home game where NUFC lost despite Peter Beardsley scoring 2 penalties. The result that day didn't matter, he, probably like anyone reading this, was hooked. An ex-season ticket holder, Steve now attends games as a Mags member, meaning that he understands the challenges and frustrations faced by many match-going fans.
Steve has a background in technology and product management, working in a leadership role for a large global company. He plans to focus on leveraging his expertise to help NUST drive engagement, positive change and will continue to push the club for greater transparency in ticketing, access and recognition for the legacy fanbase.

Steve lives in the Tyne Valley and is married with two adult sons, one of whom normally attends matches with him when they're lucky enough to get tickets.

Justin Robert:

Justin is a lifelong supporter of Newcastle United and his love affair with the club began as an 8-year-old in London where he went completely against the grain and decided to support the club. His love affair has now spread to the whole family with his son and two daughters all supporting the club as well, travelling from Yorkshire to do so. For Justin, spending time with his family whilst watching Newcastle United is paramount to what life is about and has enabled him to pass on the torch for how important it is for young people to feel part of our fine football club.

Whilst working for the Football Association as a coach developer as well as working as a goalkeeper coach for a ladies team in the third tier of English football, Justin brings a multitude of different thought processes and methods to the Board!

David Stonehouse:

David joins the NUST Board having fully retired from a long and varied career in business. Tyneside born and bred his Dad perched him on a barrier in the Gallowgate in the 1960s and from there he eventually took his place in the boardroom of Newcastle United as CEO briefly, in the early 2000s. As season ticket holder since the 80s, he enjoys going to the match with family and friends.

David hopes his experience in leadership across various businesses can support NUST achieve more for all its members.

Tom Rutherford:

Tom’s first game was a 2-0 defeat at home to Manchester City in a League Cup replay back in 1994. He has been a season ticket holder since 2004 and a regular away traveller during this period.

Tom has over ten years’ experience in providing advice and representation, so hopes to use this experience to benefit NUST and help raise issues that matter to you as supporters – particularly around pricing, transparency and access to tickets.
